Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade
Every December, more than a million people line the banks of Fort Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway to watch the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. Decorated mega-yachts, barges, and even paddleboards travel a 12-mile route through the city in what's been called the "Best Show on H2O." Our properties in Plantation and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea put you minutes from the best viewing spots.
When Is It?
The parade runs in mid-December each year. The parade is held annually on December 11, with a preshow starting at 5:30 p.m. and the parade and fireworks kicking off at 6 p.m. Check winterfestparade.com for confirmed dates and the full route map.
What to Expect
Boats of every size are decked out in lights and holiday themes. The parade travels the New River and Intracoastal Waterway, so there are plenty of spots to watch from the banks, bridges, and waterfront restaurants. VIP viewing areas and ticketed grandstand sections are available along the route for the best sightlines.
Where to Watch
- Las Olas Riverfront and the New River banks are popular free viewing spots.
- Waterfront restaurants along the route fill up fast. Make a reservation well in advance if you want a table with a view.
- VIP and grandstand tickets are sold through the Winterfest organization. Check their site for packages.
- The parade is also broadcast live if you want to catch any part you missed from your rental.
Tips
- Arrive early. The best spots along the route fill up hours before the preshow.
- Bring chairs and layers. December evenings on the water can be cool once the sun goes down.
- Parking near the route is limited. Rideshare or a short walk from a nearby garage is the easiest approach.
